» Rome Studio '09
An architectural boarding school in the Avantine Hills, Rome provide sharp relief to an otherwise flat, low landscape. The design utilizes “facets, overhangs, and terraces” to create balcony space for students and visitors to enjoy panoptic views of Rome from different public and “private” rooms. Living and learning within this vertical community happen within the same envelope. Students visit the city, and use the school as a laboratory for architectural research and studies (2008).
